We are off to #UTMB

Ibiza island will have a fairly wide representation

From Wednesday we will be at @Ultra Trail du Mont Blanc – UTMB promoting Ibiza island as host to an ever-increasing number of sports events, such as #3díasTrailIbiza and #UltraIbiza.

We would like to remind you that by finishing our race you will obtain 4 or 5 points to qualify for the 2018 edition of the UTMB. We have put in a lot of effort to become a qualifying race and appear in the international calendar.

Ibicencan runners will no longer have to travel to as many locations to make it to the starting line of the @UTMB, the world’s most prestigious ultra-trail race gathering the top trail runners in Chamonix, France.

A total of five races will be held during this week. Juan José Colom will be participating in the TDS, the first race, taking place on Wednesday, 20th August, covering a total of 119 km from Courmayeur to Chamonix with an elevation gain of +7200 m. On Thursday, the organising team of the #UltraIbiza will participate in the OCC, covering a total of 56 km with an elevation gain of +3500 m.

On Friday, Ricardo Vela, also a member of the Club, will be in the starting line of the CCC, covering a total of 101 km from Courmayeur to Chamonix through Champex-Lac with an elevation gain of +6100 m. Earlier this year in the Transgrancanaria ultra-trail race he came in first in his category and he is now looking forward to the UTMB with enthusiasm. But Vela won’t be standing alone – runners Juan Prats Moreno, Israel González and David Alcalá will also be participating.

The UTMB kicks off on Friday afternoon. Runners Pepet Colomar, Francisco Bonilla, Daniel Costa, José María Cardona, Feliciano Casanova, Toni Marí and Xicu will be covering a total of 170 km with an elevation gain of +10000 m, starting and finishing in Chamonix. Many of them participated in Els Bastions this year as training for the UTMB.
